Why would anyone want to do this?
Well, Google has been watching the growth of social media and Facebook in particular. They have been busy developing a social platform that integrates with their core business of search.
For people looking to find a local tradesman, service provider or restaurant, they want the public to build a database of feedback through social interaction, businesses with the best feedback will be rewarded with higher rankings.
If this all sounds too technical, there are other benefits;
– Even with word of mouth referrals, people tend to go online to check a business out. Having a Google local business page enables the owner to promote special offers, customer reviews and build dynamic calls to action.
